Lithium-Based Battery Technology Evolution: From Characteristics to Selection Essentials

Release time:

2026-05-27

In the wave of global energy transition, lithium-based batteries are accelerating their replacement of traditional technologies such as NiCd and NiMH, becoming the mainstream choice for photovoltaic energy storage, electric vehicles, and portable devices.

Core Advantages:
Lithium-based batteries offer significantly higher energy density than traditional batteries, storing more power in the same volume. Their service life can reach up to twice that of NiCd and NiMH batteries, significantly reducing total replacement costs over the full lifecycle.

Key Technical Specifications:

  • Operating Temperature: Supports up to 55°C

  • Design Life: 4 years at 55°C / 8 years at 35°C

  • Storage Period: Up to 12 months from production date

  • Environmental Attribute: Heavy-metal-free, non-toxic, and environmentally friendly

Important Considerations:
Some lithium-based battery chemistries are highly reactive and pose thermal runaway risks. When selecting a battery type, priority should be given to high-safety solutions such as lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO₄), or use in conjunction with a robust Battery Management System (BMS).
